GO Trojans! Carl Lancaster Carl Lancaster Head Baseball Coach
Carl Lancaster enters his 25th season with a career record of 847-393-1 at the helm of the Mount Olive College Trojans. During his tenure in the Mount Olive dugout, Lancaster’s teams have produced 22 NCAA Division II All-Americans in the past 13 seasons and two National Players of the Year in the last four seasons. Twenty-eight of Lancaster’s players have gone on to sign professional contracts, including three players from last season’s NCAA National Championship participants. Lancaster’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed nationally. He has been the Southeastern Region Coach of the Year twice; and nine times he has been named conference Coach of the Year and Division II National Coach of the Year in 2008. With the success his program has enjoyed, Lancaster’s players compete at one of the more impressive facilities at the Division II level. Assistant Coach Rob Watt Rob Watt was named as an assistant baseball coach in the summer of 2004 and is the Mount Olive College recruiting coordinator and hitting coach. Since Watt joined the Mount Olive baseball coaching staff, the Trojans have won five conference championships and have earned five NCAA Tournament appearances. Mount Olive won NCAA II regional titles in 2008 and 2011, and won the NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship in 2008. The Trojans finished third in the 2011 National Finals in Cary, N.C. and completed the 2011 season ranked 2nd in the nation. The Trojans have consistently ranked among the national statistics leaders in nearly every offensive category each year since Watt arrived at Mount Olive. Assistant Baseball Coach Jason Sherrer Jason Sherrer was added to the Mount Olive College baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach prior to the spring of 2010. Sherrer is the Trojans' pitching coach and also performs athletic field maintenance. Sherrer was the starting catcher on Mount Olive’s 2008 NCAA Division II Baseball National Championship Team. Sherrer captured a number of individual honors at the end of the 2008 season, including Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Year and Conference Carolinas Male Athlete of the Year. He also earned All-America honors and All-South Atlantic Region Gold Glove honors. Sherrer was named to the All-Tournament Team at the South Atlantic Regional. After graduation, Sherrer played professional baseball and served as an assistant high school baseball coach in his hometown of Mesa Arizona. Assistant Baseball Coach Jesse Lancaster Jesse Lancaster returned to Mount Olive in November 2011 to serve as a volunteer assistant baseball coach under his father, head coach Carl Lancaster. Jesse serves as the Trojan’s outfield coach, assists as hitting coach, and is the MOC camp coordinator. Jesse graduated from Mount Olive in 2010 and spent the 2010-11 as an assistant baseball coach at East Carolina University. In 2008, Lancaster earned All-Tournament honors at the 2008 NCAA Division II Baseball National Finals as Mount Olive claimed its first-ever national championship. Lancaster was a pre-season All-American in 2010, All-Region performer in 2012, 2010 Conference Carolinas Tournament MVP, 2006 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, and a three-time All-Conference Carolinas selection.
